Each year, hundreds of guests attend New Year’s Eve festivities at the Oasis Hotel & Convention Center. The night is spent in celebration with a great lineup of live entertainment and some of the area’s hottest bands. Many memories are made each year at the New Year’s Eve party, including momentous occasions like engagements. We love our New Year’s tradition, and after much deliberation, the staff at the Oasis is very sad to announce we will not be hosting a New Year’s event this year due to precautions regarding the Covid 19 pandemic.
With all of the challenges that 2020 has brought, we know that many of you are very excited to ring in 2021, and we absolutely agree that it should still be celebrated! Here are some other great ways you can celebrate New Year’s.
- Have a Game Night
There’s nothing like breaking out the board games to have an evening of fun. And with so many great options to choose from, there is something for everyone to enjoy. Grab the classics like Monopoly and Clue, time pieces like Mystery Date and Dream Phone, or modern favorites like Ticket to Ride and Settlers of Catan.
2. Take a Trip Down Memory Lane
Dig out old photo albums, VHS tapes or DVD’s, yearbooks, and scrapbooks and reminisce about the good times of the past. Bringing up these great memories creates a feel-good nostalgia but can also motivate you to look forward to the future and all it has to hold.
3. Planner Party
What better way to look forward to the fresh start of a new year than to have a planner making party! There are so many fun and customizable planners available and the sky is the limit for design creativity. Plus, you’ll feel motivated and organized to start 2021.
4. Indoor Camping
It’s typically too chilly in Missouri to camp in December, so why not bring the campsite indoors for a fun and memorable New Year’s Eve? Pitch a tent, roll out the sleeping bags, and grab some lanterns for ambience. Prepare traditional camping food like hot dogs, campfire nachos, or Smores.
5. At-Home Spa
Start 2021 feeling rejuvenated and refreshed by having an at-home spa night with the works- manicure, pedicure, facials, scrubs, and massages. It has been a tough year for many and it’s time to treat yourself!
6. Movie (or Netflix) Marathon
Sure, we have all done a lot of binge watching this year, but it’s always fun to pick a theme and have a movie or TV show marathon. Get creative and choose themed snacks, or a meal that is in the show and have your own “Dinner and a Movie.”
7. Cook an Exquisite Meal
Get out that fine china you never use, set Pinterest-worthy place settings, and create a made-from-scratch meal to impress! Here’s a delicious dessert recipe from our Executive Chef, Ward Daughters, who has previously worked in Las Vegas for over 30 years.
8. Have a Fancy Party for the Kids
Let your kids experience NYE “grownup style!” Dress them in “evening attire”, make a nice dinner, put on dance music and celebrate!
9. Have a Virtual Celebration with Friends
Set up a Zoom or Facebook room and celebrate with loved ones near and far- virtually! There are tons of games you can play on Zoom- here is a link with 53 different options. 10. Book a Staycation
Though we aren’t having our big NYE bash, we do have New Year’s Eve Staycation Packages available to book at the Oasis! Our Family Package includes a one night stay in a poolside double queen room, 2 large pizzas from Bella’s Pizzeria by Fire & Ice Restaurant & Bar, a non alcoholic toast, complimentary in room movie, party favors, and Hurts Donuts delivered to your room on New Year’s morning. Plus- the best part! The indoor pool will be open until 12:30 AM so you can ring in the new year poolside! Also includes a late 2:00 pm checkout.
We also have a Couples package that includes a one night stay in a deluxe King guestroom, your choice of any two entrees at Fire & Ice Restaurant & Bar, champagne for a New Year’s toast, party favors, and Hurts Donuts delivered to your room on New Year’s morning. Indoor pool will be open until 12:30 AM and package includes a late 2:00 pm check out.

11. Plan a Vacation
After the unprecedented events of this last year, we could all use a vacation! Use New Year’s Eve to research and dream up your next vacation.
